Director of Public Policy for Southeast Asia, Meta
Ima is the Director of Public Policy for Southeast Asia for Meta. She joined Meta in March
2019 after serving The Habibie Center for 19 years, where she headed up the Think Tank
as their Executive Director for 9 years.
For more than 20 years she has been a tireless advocate for peace and democracy in
Indonesia and the region, and carries 20 years of experience working to promote
democracy and human rights. She has fostered a vast network of contacts and maintained
excellent working relations with individuals and organizations in the public and private
sector. She is determinedly active in the network of civil society organizations, nationally,
regionally and globally.
Ima is a 2018 Stanford University Draper Hills Fellow, 2017 University of Hong Kong
AsiaGlobal Fellow, a 2015 Yale World Fellow, a 2010 MIT-IDEAS Indonesia Fellow and a
2001 Asia Foundation - APSA US Congressional Fellow (where she worked in the Office of
Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald of California). She holds a Bachelors of
Human Science in Political Science and Islamic Studies from the International Islamic
University Malaysia, and a Master of Art (MA) in International Studies and Diplomacy from
SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), University of London.
She enjoys traveling extensively to speak about democracy, good governance, women and
peace building, democratization and the role of civil society in Southeast Asia. In her free
time Ima advocates for survivors of gender based violence and abuse through the
nonprofit Lentera Sintas Indonesia.
